Gerardo Costabile

Gerardo leads the Forensic Technology & Discovery Services (FTDS) practice within the Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services (FIDS) of Ernst & Young (Italy).

He provides services on Cybercrime, IT Forensics, E-discovery, intelligence & Fraud Data Analytics and Enterprise Fraud Management System, with a focus on Bank, Insurance, Telco, Oil&Gas industries and Government. He also works with international and national companies to design, develop and implement assessment, monitoring, and auditing of activities about fraud, security and compliance topics. He also has ability to managed complex Project and interact with large Customer.

For many years CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) of Poste Italiane and cybercop of the Antifraud & Cybercrime Team of the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di finanza) of Milan (intelligence, background check, public auction & procurement investigation, white collar crimes, regulatory compliance, privacy, internal abuse and cybercrime). For example, he was member of the Team that captured italian hackers of NASA, other 1000 governmental and military machines in the world, the 2 virus writers in Italy and over 150 people for the first cases of phishing & cyberlaudering in Italy.

Gerardo’s technological skills include Information Security Standard, Fraud Risk Management and International Guidelines/Best Practices, ISO27001, Cobit, Data protection Act, ISO27037, PCI DSS, OWASP, NIST, AML.

Teacher for numerous University in Italy, he has achieved numerous professional certifications, i.e. Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified Information Forensics Investigator (CIFI), Certified Hacking Forensic Investigation (CHFI), recognized in international context. He is author of books on "Phishing, ID Theft and information security in finance sector", "Information security in company" and “Computer forensics and Digital Investigation – III vol. 2300 pages”.
